Dans un pays en déficit de structures de santé, et au taux de cécité record, un avion-hôpital équipé d’une salle d’opération ophtalmique vole au secours des malvoyants et des aveugles.

90 pourcents des aveugles vivent dans des pays en voie de développement. 80 pourcents des cécités pourraient être évitées par une intervention chirurgicale bénigne. Ce double constat est à l’origine de l’idée simple et efficace de l’ONG Orbis : Déplacer un avion équipé d’une salle d’opération et embarquant les meilleurs spécialistes médicaux dans les nombreux pays qui souffrent d’un manque de moyens et de structures opératoires.

In a country badly lacking in health establishments and with a record rate of blindness, an ophthalmologic hospital-plane flies to the rescue of the blind and visually impaired.

90 percent of blind people live in developing countries . 80 percent of blindness could be prevented by benign surgery. These two facts is the origin of the simple and effective idea of the NGO Orbis : Move an aircraft equipped with an operating room and shipping the best medical specialists in the many countries that suffer from a lack of resources and operating structures.
